How green is your footprint?

I have fallen behind on cloth diaper usage lately with two and it got me thinking...
What more can I do to leave a greener footprint?

I need to get back to using the diapers, as well as repurposing and recycling items rather than just trashing everything. We even plan on using old amazon and diaper boxes to build a fort and play kitchen in the spare room for the boys. Homemade and small local companies would also be work towards being greener (rather than big box companies!) We have started toward less processed foods... I don't know if that is greener but definitely healthier :)

Birthday Blessings Bash coming soon at Life with my Littles

I love entering into giveaways. I usually stick to giveaways that are for cloth diapers and other useful items for the kiddos. But during the holidays you can enter for all sorts of giveaways... clothes, giftcards, toys, toys, and many other items. So I have entered for everything I think our family might be able to use. Though I have only won one diaper so far this holiday season, I am still hopeful.

Well, the holiday season is coming to an end so It will be back to fluffy giveaways for me real soon. And I have already found an event that will be just that. Mama of the Littles at Life with my Littles is having a birthday bash with lots of fluffy goodness. She is blessed with two boys just like me and is having this event for their 2nd and 4th birthdays.

Some of the fluff included in this event are:

Diaper Laundry and Thankfulness

I am thankful. I am thankful that today is diaper laundry day. I am also thankful that I do not have enough diapers to cloth diaper full time... at least today I am! Rock has had some messy BMs 3 times today... i know... too much information lol. I don't really enjoy the dirty diaper laundry when I have to pre wash it. I am grateful that oRock is partially ECing... he has only been peeing in the toilet since he started solids except a few times... and today was one :)

Also, I am thankful that my hubby actually changed a diaper this afternoon. Normally he won't because he doesn't even know where to begin on cloth diapers... since it was disposables, he did. Then he realized it is a lot different changing a mobile baby.

I am thankful that we have a good heater this winter. It is getting cold out! I like the snow. It is beautiful, but it is still cold. Laat winter we were wrapped in blankets and pretty much just sat still reading, crafting and watching movies... that is more difficult when you have a squiggly baby. I am still trying to find a good outfit for Rock to go out in so he can play in the snow for the first time... I found some good gloves earlier today that he seemed to like chewing on  wearing. We normally just bundle him with blankets in the carseat when we hav weto go out so I don't have many bundling clothes for him. I sure it will be a lot differenet next winter but I am ok with that this year.

And I am thankful that Rock is easily entertained. I was able to bake many, many cookies this past week (to make up plates of christmas cookies for neighbors) while rock played with a chip clip and empty coffee container for part of the time. Also, hubby watched him while I was pulling the cookies in and out of the oven.

I am thankful that our landlord's family accepts us as part of the family. We were a part of their family Thanksgiving meal and are also invited to their Christmas party this weekend.
Most importantly, I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He came to earth as a mere babe to fulfill God's plan and that is why we celebrate this Christmas season.

Why is it that ireceived a product that is distributed from St. Louis Missouri from Saskatchewan? (that's in Canada) Well, because that is where I won it from, of course. I just found it funny that I used to live in Missouri and I had to go to a Canadian store (well, an online Canadian store) to get a diaper from Missouri :P

I'm not complaining... I am glad I won another diaper (thanks again, Go Shop Momma)... I just realized it and had to share :)

So I now have a lovely Bum Genius 4.0 in Twilight all the way from Saskatchewan, Canada.... or is it Rock who has it?

Frugality is Free sent me a Baby Balboa shopping cart cover... which I love to use when we go shopping. It is pictured folded up purse size which makes it so easy to carry.

At A Mom's Take I received a 4moms cleanwater bath (i didn't keep this item because we wouldn't use it- Rock likes the regular tub - so I gave it away, too)

3 am Cloth Diapers had a WAHM event in which I won a Cow Patties Cloth Diapers Famous Pocket Fitted  "Mellow Out"- I love the absorbency of this diaper and it fits well under the Eli Monster cover :)  I also have some AI2 and Pocket camo diapers from Cow Patties (Meg has great customer service!)

From Arizona Mama I got a Pump It Up Party bag (not pictured - will more than likely give away the items - toys and parts for bigger, non-baby, kids)

I won a White Elephant photo contest for most creative "beg" for a wool cover :)

I went ahead and put an advertisement banner at the top of my blog... i'm not going to make a habit of it but i think that just a couple won't make much of a big deal...

Not So Wordless Wednesday: New Nubunz!

I am super excited.... Rock is wearing cloth right now!

Rock has four diapers now. two are fitteds and he can't wear them yet (no cover - still waiting for mail) and I went ahead and bought two pocket diapers - they are Nubunz seconds with aplix. One in coffee and one in aqua. The Aqua has round tabs and Coffee has square... I think I prefer the square tabs, but it is too early to tell. I told hubby how cheap these diapers were and he said that we will have to order more :)

The Tree Huggin' Momma had suggested Nubunz to me when we were having a discussion on her FB wall about snaps vs aplix (she converted all her diapers to all snaps) So I was going to see which i liked by ordering one of each... but somehow I ended up just ordering Aplix in two different colors.

Oh well... I guess I will try again ;)

Ooo... and do you see the cute dino babylegs... I bought two pair of babylegs - dinos and goldfish ... they are super, super cute.

Also, can you be praying for our family... hubby quit his job (it was a decision we needed to make) and is searching for a job now. We are watching and waiting to see what God's will is for us now. We know God is our provision and He will bring us to where we need to be.

Pooters!

So i got my first cloth diaper today. I received the diaper in a contest from The Cloth Diaper Report.

It is a Pooters one size fitted diaper; 55% hemp 45% organic cotton. I was super excited when i received it then i remembered that it needs a diaper cover... I don't have a diaper cover yet.... sad day :(

So i can't try out the diaper and have to wait longer while my little one continues to wear disposables.

About the disposables:

I have been using Pampers primarily since Rock was born. Occasionally we use an off brand or Huggies, but Pampers just seem to fit and work better, at least they did. In the past week i have had to change 3 diapers that were blow outs. This is not fun. We had previously only had one blow out so this is just disappointing. I really cannot wait until i get to use a lovely cloth diaper that will, hopefully, not have this problem.

Cloth Diapers... freebies and giveaways

I have been entering into giveaways for cloth diapers everywhere... but i havent won any... yet...

However in the process of entering the giveaways i found a wahm who makes cloth diapers out of BDUs. I questioned her about getting one out of some of my Dhs old uniforms and found out something great....

Send in three military jackets or pants and get a free cloth diaper out of the material...yay!

So after i clear it with my husband we will have use for those uniforms that just hang in the spare bedroom closet
