Wordless Wednesday: Bubbles

May the God of hope fill you with all
joy and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with
hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Before I go

So before I head out on my trip tomorrow (the secret one that my sister is still clueless about) I thought I would post some pics of a few things I have been working on....

I got the idea for a crayon purse here and edited it a little for one of my nieces... I am still trying to figure out what to do for hair or just say it is finished as is... i think it needs more though....

And then with  crayon teeth (holds 12-16 crayons) ...

I made it into a crayon clutch by adding a tail to wrap around and close by button...

I made a little necklace with a crochet heart pendant for my other niece (who turns three tomorrow)...
The pics are still blurry because i still have no batteries for the camera... but if you can't tell the heart is a little crooked and not quite the same as the pattern, but it will do :)

I also tried a crochet finish for a fleece blanket for my sister (her birthday is friday)... it didn't turn out quite as i would expect but good enough. I didn't take a pic before i packed it and unpacking is too much of a hassle but here is the piece before I started the crochet edging...

Degas print (one of my sisters faves)

Speaking of crochet... hubby has also learned to crochet. He has started his first project which he decided will be a blanket. I think that is a pretty big first project but he is pretty determined (as of now) so I hope he can follow through without frustration and such.

Let's see, what else...

I started a silhouette project but not sure what to do with it...

I still have more projects started that i have yet to get back to like a hat for Rock, a soccer ball chair/stuffed animal storage, another jester outfit for hubby and probably one for Rock, too. So stay tuned to see if I can actually finish them :)

A lazy man does not roast his prey,
But the precious possession of a man is diligence.

Remembering Jennifer

Yesterday there was a funeral for a woman whom I once considered my aunt, Jennifer Shaffer. Jennifer was a mother of two, a loving wife, an older sister, a daughter, a teacher, and a wonderful Christian woman.

She was the sister of my former step dad (I still call their father grand daddy). They have continued to be a part of my life over the past several years though they were no longer actually related since my senior year when my mother got a divorce. I have continued to keep in touch through emails and planned on seeing granddaddy on the 26th of the month when I visit that area. I will more then likely still have dinner with him even after this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family now and the many friends and students as we remember Jennifer. hough this time may be hard, it is not a depressing time for we know she was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and went home to be with Him.

Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy
Psalm 33:3 (NIV)

Not So Wordless Wednesday: New Nubunz!

I am super excited.... Rock is wearing cloth right now!

Rock has four diapers now. two are fitteds and he can't wear them yet (no cover - still waiting for mail) and I went ahead and bought two pocket diapers - they are Nubunz seconds with aplix. One in coffee and one in aqua. The Aqua has round tabs and Coffee has square... I think I prefer the square tabs, but it is too early to tell. I told hubby how cheap these diapers were and he said that we will have to order more :)

The Tree Huggin' Momma had suggested Nubunz to me when we were having a discussion on her FB wall about snaps vs aplix (she converted all her diapers to all snaps) So I was going to see which i liked by ordering one of each... but somehow I ended up just ordering Aplix in two different colors.

Oh well... I guess I will try again ;)

Ooo... and do you see the cute dino babylegs... I bought two pair of babylegs - dinos and goldfish ... they are super, super cute.

Also, can you be praying for our family... hubby quit his job (it was a decision we needed to make) and is searching for a job now. We are watching and waiting to see what God's will is for us now. We know God is our provision and He will bring us to where we need to be.

Yes, You are my Rock and my Fortress;
therefore for Your name's sake lead me and guide me.
Psalm 31:3 (Amplified Bible)

MamRoo Giveaway at Mom to Bed by 8

The giveaway I have been waiting for is finally here :)

That is right... another chance to win a mamaRoo from 4moms. I have the button on my right sidebar or above if you would also like to enter for the chance to win at Mom to Bed by 8. I have entered to win several because I REALLY want one... I even enter every chance I get at the 4moms Facebook page and 4moms Insider.

So why do I want one so much?
The mamaRoo "moves like you do" There are five different movements and five speeds to comfort baby, the balls that are in the mobile are pics of artwork (with black and white on one side and collor on the other) plus the balls come out for baby to play with :) The seat inclines to several positions and the cover is machine washable as the site says, "It’s as easy to clean as it is to use." And of course... one of my favorite colors is green and that is one of the 6 color options :)

So i am etering to win it today...will you?

For I am giving you good guidance.
Don’t turn away from my instructions.
For I, too, was once my father’s son,
tenderly loved as my mother’s only child.

Shoot-N-Tell

These pictures were taken a while ago (mid June) but i thought they would be good to share the story of what was going on (plus i can't take new pics right now because I don't have any good batteries...sad I know)

These pictures were taken when Rock was still trying to learn to balance while sitting supported. I leaned him up against a pillow that was leaned against my headboard and started "Mommy's Photo Shoot." I went through several outfits but the shots in his 'champ' outfit were my favorites. He was laughing and having fun with the attention he was getting almost the whole time :)

He laughed after sneezing and falling over, it was too cute! After several shots and several times of readjusting him I finally got a great shot:

He even placed his hand on his knee on his own :) I have a very photogenic baby boy (when he isn't sleepy or hungry) The trick is trying to change him when he wants to play.

He stole his shoe from mommy and thought it was hillarious. I tried taking a picture of him laughing but had put the camera up when I got ready to change him (silly me) So here he is still hoding his shoelace but not laughing as hard.

Isn't that a fun Shoot-N-Tell You can check out more entries and even enter your own at the The Franklins

(ends on Wednesday so hurry on over by clicking the button at the top or one of the links)

Bow down thine ear to me;
deliver me speedily:
be thou my strong rock,
for an house of defence to save me.

Rock is 5 months old!

This is a very exciting Thursday...

Little Rock is now 5 months old. He is growing up so fast!

Weight: just shy of 20 lbs

Length: 27 1/4 inches

Clothing size: varies… because of length (and his chubby legs) he can barely fit 3-6mo. And has some 12 mo clothes that he fits very well

Sleeping patterns: he normally sleeps a stretch of 6-7 hours at night in his playpen. (normally because with teething he wakes up some nights...poor boy) He falls asleep while nursing and wakes up to nurse/get diaper change, then sleeps for 2-3 more hours next to mommy (unless that is where daddy is sleeping... daddy normally sleeps evenings though)

Eating Habits: he still nurses about every two hours; he has tried rice cereal several times, 'helping' mommy to bring the spoon to his mouth, and more ends up on him than in him :) - he also thinks the spoon is tasty (with or without cereal on it)

He loves: being tickled, eating, laughing with daddy, baths, books, watching everything, rolling during diaper changes

He hates: being confined in car seat/swing for long periods, teething (one tooth that came in monday - and he has already bitten his tongue), taking naps (not the actual nap just the process of falling asleep during naptime)

He can: roll over, sit with some help, babble and make all sorts of noises, grasp objects and pull them to his mouth, potty on the toilet (with 'some' help from mommy), suck on his toes and DROOL!

He wants desperately to: talk, sit up on his own, crawl, stand by himself

Things he's looking forward to this month: first airplane ride on the 21st, visiting family, new cloth diapers (free fluff won - two already here but need cover, on its way (: before wearing), and spending time with mommy (oh wait - he does that every day :P )

Five months isn't really a big marker, no shots or doctors appointments and no big milestones (besides the ones he is already trying and the tooth), but hopefully I will be out of town at the 6 month point (so no update then - unless i get bored somewherre near a computer)

p.s. don't tell any of my FB friends/family about the airplane and visits... it is a surprise :)

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken
Psalm 62:5, 6 (NLT)
